extract software package provides displays meta-data from files of arbitrary type, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install extract
extract is installed in your system.
Make ensure the extract package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep extract *
You will get with extract package name, version, architecture and description in a table
